We are once again delighted to have the Kippford Painters Exhibition in the Village hall this year.  Always a popular event, it showcases the exceptional talent of local painters around Kippford.

The event runs from Saturday 5th August through to the following Saturday, 12th.  The gallery is open between 10:30am and 5pm each day.

There is a special preview evening on Friday 4th August from 6:30 until 8pm.

Entry to the exhibition is free. You have the opportunity to vote for your favourite piece of art, and can even purchase some of the work, to support the artists.

Kippford Painters Exhibition

A Brief History

Kippford Painters is a group of artists from Kippford and surrounding areas and first started exhibiting in the village hall in 1976 with a group of 4 Kippford artists . The group has since  increased in numbers  to the present level of around 24.

One of the founding members, Dorothy Hancock continued to organise the annual event until around 2003 and was succeeded by Gillian Williams who took over the reigns until 2010. Tom Millar now organises the exhibition with the help of Carol Bottomely-Smith, Margaret Cowan, Pat Abery and this year Mandy Neilson.

The annual exhibition is an accepted part of the village life and is popular with locals and tourists alike, deriving its popularity from the extremely varied painting styles on show which include landscapes, abstract, modern, wild life, floral etc.. No style is excluded, as long as the work is of the high standard our public has come to expect.

Most mediums are covered, with some work done on silk or a mix of painting and embroidery.

Whatever your taste is in art, Kippford Painters will have something for you.

The exhibition always coincides with “Kippford Week” and is held in Kippford Village Hall.

The event is self-financing, with donations going to Kippford Village Hall and our chosen charities -  Marie Curie Cancer Care and RNLI.
